An International Perspective on My Aromatherapy Research
In spring 2014, I was interviewed for Aromatherapy on the Record, the newsletter published by the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists (CFA).
The interview appeared on page 14, in the Aromatherapy Around the World section, which featured perspectives and experiences from the international aromatherapy community.
The conversation explored the origins of my interest in essential oils, which began in 1995 while I was studying philosophy and Ayurveda, and my subsequent decision to dedicate my professional work to teaching aromatherapy and botanical perfumery.
Olfactory Awareness and Mediterranean Herbal Traditions
Part of the interview focused on Healing through Scents and Consciousness (HSC), a teaching method I had developed through years of research and practical experience with aromatic materials.
I also discussed the Mediterranean herbal tradition, the historical uses of aromatic plants, and the relationship between botanical knowledge, sensory experience and personal awareness.
Looking back, this publication documents an important stage in my professional journey and my participation in an international dialogue on aromatherapy.
Since then, my work has evolved towards new forms of olfactory research, botanical fragrance composition and writing, while maintaining a continuing interest in aromatic raw materials and their cultural histories.
